June is LGBT+ Pride Month, a time to honor the resilience, beauty, and diversity of the queer community. As Wiccans and Pagans, we celebrate this month not only as allies but as people rooted in a faith that embraces personal sovereignty, love, and the interconnectedness of all beings. Wicca is, at its core, a progressive and inclusive faith—one that recognizes the divine in all people and embraces the freedom to love and express oneself authentically.

Why Pride Matters to Wiccans

Pride is more than parades and celebrations; it is a powerful affirmation of equality and acceptance, values that resonate deeply within Wiccan spirituality. Wicca has no central authority dictating rigid doctrine, and we honor the sacred balance of masculine and feminine energies within us all while also recognizing that gender, identity, and love exist beyond binaries. Wiccans uphold the Rede’s guiding principle: An’ it harm none, do what ye will. Social harm is harm—the isolation, depression, anxiety, and fear caused by exclusion can be just as damaging as physical harm. Many covens and solitary practitioners actively work toward inclusive spiritual spaces, rejecting harmful biases and outdated restrictions that exclude queer individuals. We recognize that the Divine manifests in many forms, embracing a spectrum of gender identities and sexual expressions.

Walking the Path of Inclusion

To honor Pride Month as Wiccans and Pagans, we can:

• Educate – Learn about queer history, especially within Pagan and spiritual communities.
• Support – Amplify LGBTQ+ voices and uplift queer practitioners in our circles.
• Celebrate – Participate in Pride events, include LGBTQ+ themes in rituals, and invoke deities associated with transformation and self-acceptance (such as Loki, Aphrodite, or Freyja).
• Commit – Ensure that our spiritual spaces remain safe and welcoming for all, eliminating discrimination and embracing genuine diversity.

This Pride Month, let us reaffirm that love is sacred, inclusion is our duty, and diversity is divine. Wicca thrives on authenticity, respect, and freedom, and as practitioners, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community in celebrating its spirit.
